Candlemaking

This is not a comprehensive candle-making post. Those are easily found on the web, and have all degrees of difficulty with them. Don’t let them fool you – these were easy.

Making candles like these can be easy and cheap. This time I wasn’t even trying, I just wanted to do something. If you have great containers available, they can be really neat. I have used coffee mugs, tea cups, cans, and tea tins.
To get it done, you need old candle ends melted down in an equally old pot. As soon as they are liquid as water, turn down the heat and pour by small sections into your containers. Let the sections dry before adding more, or they will collapse around the wick. The old wicks will sink to the bottom of the pot and can be thrown away when all the wax is gone. Wipe the pot clean with a rag or paper towel as soon as you are finished, before the wax has time to cool.
If it does cool, reheat the pot.
